Making The Charcuterie Clock
The Charcuterie Clock came to me in a dream. In summer 2023, our studio member project was to make clocks. I am originally from Wisconsin and a cheese lover. I am the friend who always brings a cheese board. Cheese is a food group. I knew I needed to make a cheese related clock and thus the idea for the charcuterie clock was born.
I wanted to create a wood-look board for the clock face and used speckled buff clay with a wood grain underglaze transfer to achieve this. All of the 12 “numbers” on the clock are various forms of hand built cheese and accoutrements.
My favorites the brie slice and the cherries! Hope this inspires you to create your own clay clock!
